Costa Carolina Custom Pangas

Costa Carolina Custom PangasWe are a small custom panga builder located in the NW mountains of Costa Rica. We have been building pangas for 17 years. All of our pangas are 100% hand made, hand laid hulls, stringers, ribs and decks. We use high density- no rot ‘Coosa

Board’ for transom builds and composite-honey comb ‘Nida Core’ for the main deck. Our pangas are not thin, light weight pangas, the hull, decks, stringers and ribs are all over built using multiple layers of hand laid matting with roven fiberglass and polyester resins. Interiors and transom are bound and wrapped using epoxy based products.

Below deck and stringers are fully filled with high quality closed cell foam. Rigging tubes are large, well placed and user friendly. Only the highest quality components and hardware are installed on our pangas such as removable Viking hatches, Lee 316 ss rod holders and stylish Edson steering wheels. We prefer to build a strong, sturdy panga that will hold up over many years while providing a smooth, stable and high performance ride. The pangas are available in 18ft to 23ft lengths. The gunwales are full length seasoned Spanish Cedar from the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Once completed to a certain point the pangas are imported to Charleston, SC where we paint and add on hardware, cushions and custom accessories.

We typically paint the interior and exterior hull using ‘Awl Grip’ or ‘Awl Craft’ products. The pangas are self bailing although we do install bilge pumps for extra safety. Fuel tanks are made by ‘Moeller Marine’ in 27 to 74 gallon capacities depending on which size hull is selected.

Prices start at $17,500 for a 18ft tiller commercial style finish delivered in Costa Rica and go up to $58,000 for a 23ft fully finished, custom painted, custom leaning post, rod holders, SS bimini, lights, hydraulics, cushions and accessories delivered in Charleston, SC.
